The Plough on the green, Greenham
What a breathe of fresh air Kirstie and her family have brought to the plough. I have been going to this pub for 30 years and it has always been a great pub but for the last 2 years lost its appeal. Since Kirstie took it over less than 2 weeks ago, everyone has returned, it’s been like a reunion. Lots of catching up, hugs and laughter. I for one can’t wait to be part of the next chapter and wish you all the success that I know is coming your way. ?

Cloudy lumpy real ale at The Plough on the Green in…
In one week The Plough on the Green in Newbury has gone from the best pub in Newbury to lower than the worst. To top it all off the new managers can’t even look after real ale - last pint I was served was so cloudy I could chew it ? when I asked for another pint Kirstie (manager) told me there’s nothing wrong with it and if she doesn’t sell it she’ll be charged for it herself. Well madam look after it better and it might last longer. No alternative or refund offered. Disgusting
DEFINITELY AVOID AS OVERPRICED AND NOT EVEN WORTH IT AT ALL
Martsons - The Red Squirrel - Stevenston
After saying a few years ago we would probably not go back, we decided to give it another go.
The place was absolutely dead and can understand why now.
I got an "8oz" ""sirloin steak"" that was never 8oz. I asked for barbecue sauce with no veg and got gravy with veg!
both our dinners were supposed to come with onion rings, the plates came but no onion rings there. when asked were they were we were then told they dont have any left!
Also nearly died an early death when seen the bill and we were charged 3.25 each for draught "pepsi".
I mean if you are going to charge that price it AT LEAST has to be real pepsi!
overall experience really poor and I honestly do not suggest anybody goes here for food. 30 quid for 2 dinners and 2 water pepsi things and that was with 20% off due to questioning where the onion rings were?!
No customer appreciation
No point in complaints online as they not bothered and never reply. Even a 1 star is too much

Everything on a budget. AVOID.
Not going to mention the actual venue because the staff do a sterling job, so don’t want to jeopardise their jobs, by the powers that be looking at ratings only, and not reading the reasons why ie Marstons being in charge!!
Everything done on the cheap, cheap, cheap. Never come across SUCH a penny pinching company that expects the customer to still pay decent prices for shoddy rooms and disgracefully ‘cutback’ budget ridden food.
Absolute disgrace of a company. They must be driving many venues into the ground, with their accounts over everything else attitude.
Filthy old heavily stained toilet seats, broken windows, broken blinds, mattresses with springs sticking out as so old. Despite being Hypnos. And these are the premium rooms!!!
Perhaps they are relying on the good old English tradition of never complaining?
SESSILE OAKS, LLANELLI
Hi Dionne
Regarding my stay at Sessile Oaks Llanelli from 27th May 2022 to 29th May 2022.
It was a surprise and a matter of disappointment that you have charged me for the broken bed without even discussing with us to know what happened.
It is really unfair that you did not even consider asking me if my card had the required balance to meet the debt you caused.
We reported to the reception that the bed has broken just by sitting on it and the reception staff said that's ok and only asked if we are happy to sleep with the mattress on the floor.
The staff said to keep the bed to a side when we asked if the bed can be replaced or moved out of the room as we had two kids sleeping in the room.
The reception staff did not mention about any further reviews to the situation of the bed by anyone or any possible penalties.
If the staff have mentioned about any further investigations we would have taken the staff to the room and allowed them to look at the bed. This would have given us opportunity to explain the situation and settle it in a much transparent and quick way.
The structure of the bed is without any connection between the head and foot ends to prevent it from opening outwards especially when standing on wheels.
It felt so unkind that you or your staff, until now did not even ask if the person who sat on the bed while it broke was alright or about any injuries that may have caused by the accident.
The broken bed could have caused further risk to the kids as it was never looked at or even offered by your staff to be removed or replaced.
The bedding was from spilt coffee which was on the person's hand while the bed broke.
The room was left for cleaning on Saturday morning when we went out and we assumed that bedding would have been collected by your staff and laundered.
There was nothing mentioned to us on Saturday evening or on Sunday morning.
The picture of the wall is all of a surprise that we don't know what or where it is.
I tried to speak to you today 31st May 2022.
Each time the staff told me either you have not reached there or is away from the phone.
At last one staff actually went to get you and came back with the message from you that you have emailed me about this issue.
I have not received any emails from you or Sessile Oaks so far.
I hope you will get back to me soon.
I still hope you are a kind person and will understand the situation and cancel the £150 you charged.
Many Thanks
Arun Achuthan

Sun Verge Restaurant Rhyl
Visited Sun Verge Restaurant Rhyl paid my parking got a refund from a member of staff now PREMIER PARK have charged me £100 for the stay i was there BE AWARE will never go there again
tafarn-y Phoenix, will it ever get better ??
Sadly, having had emails from Marston`s Re Tafarn-Y-Phoenix. and their new menu /burger additions / 30% OFF, I felt now maybe a good time to sample the menu once again, I invited a friend to join me at your pub/restaurant, on entering we proceeded to the bar and spoke to a gentleman I would guess in his earl forty's I enquired if he was management to which he replied "no" I asked how long the chef had been at the Tafarn-Y-Phoenix and was amazed to be told "six years", I explained to the gentleman that I had lived in the are for 2i years , this was my fourth visit to the Phoenix and each time in the past I had experienced very poor quality meals, I suggested he might mention this to the chef hoping I might be served an enjoyable meal. I gave our order for food being 1 breaded mushrooms and 1 brie followed by two cowboy burgers.
The starters arrived mine consisted of 6 oblong breaded items served in a boat like container with a small dish of sauce ?? on a plate with the breaded items, my partners was served approximately 10 breaded mushrooms in a similar white boat-like dish with a container of sauce on the side the mushroom sauce was a barbecue like sauce from which the garlic must have escaped, -- both starter were served on plates without garnish or anything to make the food appetising. we were asked if all was ok with the starter to which we replied it was.
The main coarse was served, I tried the "CHIPS" hard fried not at all enjoyable I took the seeded top off the bread roll in which the burgers were served --- I tried the bread roll, dry and tasteless with some yellowish sauce spread in the middle of the top--- I tried the "bacon" on top of the burger looked like dry cooked bacon but little if any taste, I cut through the burgers to try a piece -- both burgers were stuck together presumably with the "CHEESE" yet more tasteless meat like offerings I again tried a few "chips"
hard and tasteless, I cut another piece off the burger --- tasteless and just so completely disappointing
I did not touch the bottom part of the bread roll since it had thin strips of lettuce lying across it, we were not asked for comments on the main course, my guest / partners burger was free from sauce the roll was burnt and her chips were barely warm. Furthermore the main coarse being served in a bowl as opposed to a plate, my partner / guest the receptacle in which the main coarse was served resembled my dogs food bowl !!
I called the barman / waiter over and stated the meal was ounce again desperately disappointing and he could take away the bowls, while he was clearing the table the couple opposite us rose from their table said to us they were disgusted with their meal, it was chicken and undercooked that they were very annoyed and would never be coming to eat "here" again !!
The barman / waiter asked why did we not say we were unhappy with the food we were served ?? I thought that having already told him of my previous experience and suggested he mention it to the chef what on earth would be the point ??
I mention this purely because I feel you should know, a taxi driver I use quite frequently use, agreed with my earlier comments on Tafarn-Y-Phoenix and stated he would not go there again !!
I am, disabled and a local gentleman who took me for my third covid vaccination asked me what I thought of Tafarn-Y-Phoenix, I could only tell him the truth and that I could not recommend it to anyone, he agreed with me, both he and the taxi driver live within 1 mile of the premises.
is so sad and disappointing .that I live within 50 yards of the car park entrance and indeed would be a very good customer were the food good, but on my few visits to date they have been little more than disastrous and cannot recommend any element of this Marston`s business.
I send this letter / report / feedback with regret, and I would not begin to allow any business of mine to trade with such a poor and totally uninspiring reputation.
It is not suprising that Tafar-y Phoenix is no longer on Trust Pilot
Diabolical
Poor quality food and complaint raised with photographs. Got a general response no compensation for out meal that half was left. Head office just as poor as the pubs. I will avoid Marston pubs in the future at all costs and I'd advise don't even bother feeding back as they don't take feedback seriously as you can see from this feed!
Dog sat on bar
If I could give the Mast and Rigging a minus review I would do so.
Birthday lunch.
Poor service
Burned chicken and over cooked onion rings
Cold chips served to diners on adjoining table.
Tables adjacent to play area very noisy. Moved tables to another area only to have to keep getting up and closing the door to the outside area.
Man at the bar had a dog, no issues with dogs in a pub. I have a major issue with dogs sat on the bar unchallenged by staff until I called the manager.
A spoiled birthday lunch. No proper apology. They did not charge us for our meal. Not a place I can recommend,
I visited the Grouse and Claret near Chatsworth
I visited the Grouse and Claret near Chatsworth with a friend today and we both had fantastic meals. We were served by Alice who was wonderful and was really polite, friendly and super efficient. I highly recommend the service at the Grouse and Claret, it was without doubt a 5 star service. We will return, Thank you.

I'm a regular at the AppleCart in…
I'm a regular at the AppleCart in Cardea, and have been very suprised at Marstons approach to re-opening. I appreciate that during lockdown profits weren't made but I'm sure there was government support. Cardea is a catchment of 1000's of residents but whilst people want to socialise, the rise in costs at the Apple Cart is detrimental. Morrisons 200yds away sell 3 x Pinot Grigio bottles for £15 or you can sit at the Apple cart for nearly £7 a glass ... House party anyone ...? Makes no marketing sense. Residents love the team at the Apple Cart but limit visits to pop in and say hello rather than the social gathering it once was. CH

I am a regular at the Applecart
I am a regular at the Applecart - Peterborough and I along with roughly 10 other regulars that go to have drinks are horrified at the uplift in prices of beer, lager and wines. it is now more expensive than a prime City location in the City centre. We have therefore formed a group and even though we might still pop in for a couple of drinks from time to time, we now certainly will be going elsewhere if we plan to make a day/evening of it.....unless the prices are reduced for at least the regular drinkers - CG
